It’s tough to find upgrades for this car that keep it clean—a modified Civic doesn’t usually scream “mature adult.” A TuxMat kit is no janky universal accessory, though. It’s the perfect way to add some personalization that makes a splash, but is simultaneously subtle enough to feel sophisticated.

TuxMat Design

TuxMat hits a great balance between “industrial” and “luxury” in its aesthetics. Bold edges, hard lines, and deep texture give these floor mats a very tough look while the dark coloring and chrome emblems make them feel luxurious.

The design is functional, too. Tracked dirt, snow, and spilled drinks get isolated in TuxMat’s deep channels and then contained by high walls. Shoes, boots, paws, and claws don’t easily scuff the material at all, making it easy to keep your car clean no matter who’s carpooling with you.

If you do get some snow or grime inside, cleaning couldn’t be easier. Just vacuum, wipe, or rinse off with water and your TuxMat floor mats will look new again.

TuxMat Quality

TuxMat uses a waterproof vinyl layer on top, an EVA core for durability, and a non-slip bottom layer to keep its mats securely in place. A thick layer of stiching runs around the outside to keep itself together, and a heavy-duty heel pad keeps you from wearing any holes through.

Even the TuxMat emblems are nice looking—they feel like real metal and are attached with screws, not dinky adhesive.

TuxMat floor mats are heavy, hold their shape, and hold up against pretty much anything you can throw at them. The brand uses the phrase “like a hazmat suit for your floors,” to descibe the product. I think they’re more like a Tuxedo, but, a James Bond one that’s bulletproof and ready for anything.

TuxMat Fitment

Extreme interior coverage is what TuxMat does best. These floor mats protect far more than just what’s directly under the driver’s feet, they come all the way up the footwells up to the center console and door sill. That’s a huge part of why installing them makes such a dramatic difference aesthetically, and it also makes them the ultimate option for interior protection.

We’ve now test-fitted TuxMat floor mats on three different vehicles—this Civic, a Toyota RAV4, and a Ford Maverick—and in each instance, the mats fit with laser precision and stickler-satisfying perfection. They’re perfectly shaped and contoured to fit exactly with hundreds of makes and models.

If your car uses clips or loops to hold its factory mats in place, you’ll find provisions to use the same in your new TuxMat, finishing off the OE-level fitment.

But even though they’re much bigger and stiffer than standard factory mats, they have plenty of give for a very painless installation and come with additional clips for extra security should you need them.
